About the work

In the moment, it felt almost mundane. Reflecting later, it was like nothing I'd ever seen before. A massive brushfire, cooler of ice cold beers, and their own personal backhoe occasionally shoveling more fuel to the fire. Mr. And Mrs. Spectated the "Fireshow" in their folding lawn chairs while the flames reached for the sky. I photographed alongside. Later, in finishing this image, I added extra saturation and "noise" to echo the intense, surreal qualities of this wild, summer night in rural Maine.
