About the work

This piece began as an acrylic painting in my home studio, a few weeks before the holiday season and its associated chaos and busy-ness. Finding time and space to create without distraction was like a breath of fresh air on that cold, wintery day, and without overthinking, I was able to immerse in the moment and let the brushtrokes happen naturally and intuitively. The result was a soft, textured painting on paper, a larger piece which I later separated into two components to be displayed as individual prints or a set. The series embodies importance of occasionally interrupting the pace of our busy lives and attributing meaning and joy to those calm, peaceful moments.
