This photograph was taken on a whirlwind adventure to Morocco. We were staying in the south of Portugal and decided on a whim to wake up at 4 in the morning, drive through Spain, take a ferry across the strait of Gibraltar and explore Tangier for the day. We were approached by a friendly young entrepreneur and decided to take him up on his offer to show us around his home town. It ended up being the best decision! Although he was fasting for Ramadan, he took us to a little bakery to sample his favorite treats, then on to a local restaurant for a delicious feast of tagine and baklava. He led us through the winding streets of the kasbah, taught us some essential Arabic phrases and then ended the day at the souk where I got to hunt for treasures while a shop owner dressed my husband up in traditional clothing. We had an unforgettable time and can't wait to return to Morocco someday soon.
