The Outer Banks of North Carolina is one of my favorite locations to photograph. I am inspired by the persistent energy of the ocean and took this photo the moment a large wave crashed into the rickety old pier I was standing on. I remember the wooden planks swaying under me and mist from the water spraying my lens. It's an image that speaks to the power of nature.
