About the work

One Letter, several objects - some more meaningful than others. I created this series as a way to memorialize my material possessions. I was moving out of state and had accumulated quite a household full of "stuff". I could only keep what could fit inside my Toyota Corolla. It was a big downgrade. Before the move, in the spirit of Marie Kondo and "sparking joy", I shed many items in a fierce wave of domestic de-cluttering. These things, although just things, were still meaningful to me, but not quite enough to make the move. So, as I said goodbye to some of them, I honored them with a portrait. This is an ongoing series.
