One of the reasons that living in Seattle is so great is that we're surrounded by so much water. My husband and I love to take our son for walks along the rugged Pacific Northwest beaches, and my son and I often pick up handfuls of stones to study, stack, and toss into the Sound. I often gather the ones with my favorite shapes, patterns, and color palettes and place them on driftwood to photograph. This painting was inspired by the process of collecting stones on winter beaches.
