Inspired by a famous tattoo design know as the "Winged Heart," this piece depicts love, freedom, and lightness of heart through the image of two birds lifting a heart between them. I wanted to incorporate some of the formality and stylization common in tattoo art by using mirror images of the birds and a simple heart silhouette, but gave the whole piece a natural, organic feel by realistically rendering the birds.
