This piece reminds me of family trips to the Grand Canyon as a child. Particularly bringing to mind the rock formations of bright angel shale- the layers of pink, blue, yellow and green- bring back such intense feelings of awe and wonder. This piece was a catalyst for The Shape of Memory series which is a tribute to textiles and free-form, improvisational quilting. Like a memory quilt, with its unpredictable stacking of shapes, materials, and colors, my pieces reflect on the places I explored as a child, and the people and adventures that populate my past.
