This summer landscape painting features a simple, quiet view brimming with tall grasses. Perhaps the perfect place to rest and gaze at clouds drifting overhead? 'Midafternoon' was inspired by the frequent rural drives I take in my native southern Minnesota. The rhythmic textures of tall grasses as they sway in a gentle breeze exude peace to me and I enjoy translating this into my paintings.
