My landscapes aren't painted in the traditional steps of first requiring a sketch or mapping out a plan of action. Rather, I love to take a half finished, previously discarded piece and paint right over it. I take advantage of unexpected textures and turn them into botanical elements. Surprising colors peak out underneath the clouds providing dimension and playfulness that otherwise can't be planned. Which is why these second chance paintings are the most fun to paint.
