This photo was inspired by our river valley in January and I think it shows the quintessential winter feel. Frost and snow change the landscape into something magical and reduce it into simple shapes. The focus changes into noticing all the patterns, textures and muted colors of winter. With the reduction comes peacefulness and room to breath. "The River laid dreaming" is part of a personal series exploring our local river Lahn (a tributary of the Rhine, Germany) with photography and painting.

    about the artist

    byEva Marion

    Koblenz, DE

I am a graphic designer originally, but in 2011 I decided to spend more time away from the computer, which led me back to my first love, painting! Which then led to surface design, and then illustration. And it set my life on a different path … nowadays I work from my small but cozy home studio in the beautiful Lahn River Valley. I love to sketch and paint outdoors and I call our rooftop garden and the valley itself my second and third workplace.
