I painted this chic schnauzer in watercolor, and accented in pen and ink, to show off his super snazzy chambray shirt with a fun pattern, his yellow bow tie, and cool hipster tortoiseshell glasses. He's such an awesome little hipster, elegant and just a tiny bit ironic in this traditional head-and-shoulders portrait pose.

    about the artist

    byLauren Rogoff

    New York, NY

I'm Lauren: a NYer, traveler, lover of books, horses, dogs and painting. When I was a little girl, used to tell anyone who asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up that I wanted to be a "veterinarian with pictures all over the walls" but ultimately I'd rather wield a paintbrush than a scalpel! Watercolors are my medium of choice. I think it allows me to best capture the expressions of my subjects, and getting that face, those eyes, or little ears or curl of tail, just right.
