The vastness of the ocean and seeing the sailboats tackle the water inspired me to take this shot. Having the aerial vantage point gives us an usual view and seeing the boat lean into the wind allows for an interesting curvature to the image. The green of the water is calming with flares of light adding interest and the white of the boat pop from the dark background.

I’m a freelance photographer based in Ottawa, Ontario. The first time I picked up a camera with serious intent was during a high-school photography class where I learned the craft of black and white photography, dark room development and ‘old-school’ post processing.
