About the work
This modern abstract painting was inspired by the beauty of the colors of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the summer months. The lake was lined with colorful boats and umbrellas which inspired these bright colors reflecting in the sunliight.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
