"Love in Idleness" is an abstract botanical based on the pansy flower. The title refers to one of the pansy's many names. The pansy is a flower that despite its delicate appearance is hearty, withstanding even the coldest Spring, surviving light frosts and snow cover. Known as the “flower with faces” there is rich folklore and history on the pansy throughout art and literature. A beloved flower, symbolizing memories, loving thoughts and prosperity. Pansies are always some of the first flowers to grace our flowerbeds as the harsh Chicago winters melt.
