Ink Raven is part of a body of work I completed last winter using the imagery of birds and animals native to Canada. Ravens are honored by Native Americans and feature prominently in their culture. Because of their black feathers ravens are sometimes associated with the night and called the "keeper of secrets." In this painting I wanted to capture both the physical beauty and the cultural mystery of the raven.
