I had pink walls and a pink rug in one of the homes I lived in when I was a child. When I entered the Pottery Barn Kids and Teen Art Challenge, I knew that I would create something pink because (with the exception of my all-black goth years), the color has always inspired me. Melanie Biehle is an American artist who paints what places feel like. Her work is inspired by Louisiana landscapes, Pacific Northwest mountains and forests, the coast of California, New York City architecture, and Seattle skylines. Melanie studied abstract painting at Gage Academy of Art. She was born in rural Louisiana and spent most of her adult life on the West Coast. No matter where her journeys take her, Louisiana, the Pacific Northwest, and Southern California will always live inside her. less
