I've always been drawn to the desert southwest landscape. When I was a child, we spent our family summer vacations traveling through Colorado, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. The memories of those road trips have stayed with me. I created this art print visualizing the shapes and colors of an abstracted desert landscape, and incorporated the fanciful notion of the moon singing songs to the desert while casting shadows on the landscape.

    about the artist

    byKaren Kaul

    Hanover, MN

My work is driven by a study in contrasts: light and dark, refined and rustic, serene and chaotic. Contrast creates dynamic tension—the ultimate playground for any artist. Orchestrating the balance between opposites is where life and art become interesting to me. I currently reside near Minneapolis on two unruly acres with my husband, two teenage boys, and our pets.
