My favorite feature of acrylic paint is that it dries quickly which means that I can move onto the next layer just as quick. But the most fun part is near the end where I remove the most recent layers to reveal the quick, sketchy beginning layers which sometimes provide the most interest in the piece. In this case, the colorful sky was created by scratching through the layers.
