This is an abstract landscape painting of a magical lake and the house at the bottom of the mountain. I was inspired by the incredible life, colours and textures beneath the dark water. I created this piece using layers of various painted backgrounds and then used the etched crayon technique by adding a black layer on top of the coloured layer and gently and slowly erased the black to reveal the various shapes and colours of the mostly plant-life below.
ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lee-Anne is an illustrator and surface pattern designer who grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and studied Graphic Design at The Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She has worked as a freelance illustrator for children’s books, magazines and advertising agencies, as well as an artist and illustrator for a wall art company based in Spain. She has also had a successful career as a photographer and had her work both published and exhibited in Cape Town. less
