If I am asked to imagine a place where I feel completely free and at peace my mind always jumps to standing on the wild expanse of Playa Grande, Costa Rica just after sunset during those twenty minutes or so when the colossal sky is painted with twilight's warm glow. To create this image I used a slow shutter speed and side to side movement of my camera to 'draw' lines and textures with the light. The effect is an abstraction of the scene, an intentional push-back against the clinical crispness of modern photography and an invitation to open up to a gentler view of our world.
