This abstract composition was inspired by the shadows and sunlight intermingling through a lush, forested canopy. The original is an acrylic on canvas painting, utilizing bold brushstrokes and large areas of color combined with small, subtle detailing to create a sense of light and depth.

by Melanie Severin
I'm a Canadian designer/artist, loving wife, and mom to 3 amazing kids! We live in rural Alberta, Canada, and I work from a lovely home-based studio, surrounded by aspen forest, wildlife, and natural beauty. My work is heavily inspired by nature and strives to achieve that (im)perfect balance between sophistication and whimsy. less
