About the work
This is part of a larger series of works featuring lush strokes of color, texture, and delicate mark-making. Roaming the woods in the South as a child left a permanent impression, and I’m often recreating abstracted snapshots of those memories on canvas. In this piece, foliage grows against shadowed greens and vibrant water-like blues.

Sarah McInroe is a fine artist who completed her BFA in Drawing and Painting in 2008. She now lives and works in east Texas. Working in acrylics and mixed media, she looks for a harmony and balance between realism and abstraction. Subjects are often placed on backgrounds full of color and texture in order to evoke a sense of mood, place, or memory.
