I make art about a place. Through my paintings I explore our emotional connection to the physical world, and the way in which we cultivate a sense of belonging to landscapes and to one another. This piece is based on an image from a backpacking trip to the Green Mountains of Vermont. It is part of a diptych, showing the trail stretching out forward at the beginning of my hike, and the trail extending back behind us after a week of backpacking.
