My paintings are about color and space. I am interested in how color and line can be used to create depth of space and movement. I am always on a quest to find tension in a painting and the balance needed to sustain it. This painting depicts converging energy and the intersection and disconnect in our busy modern lives.

about the artist

byKelly Johnston

Seattle, WA

I am inspired by the vibrant colors intrinsic to my native Pacific Northwest landscape. From the rich blue, green and golden tones of the San Juan Islands to the pastel lavender and coral shades of a Cascade mountain sunrise, my color palette is directly influenced by my surroundings. Water plays a large role in my life and my work as I live on an island just a short ferry ride away from Seattle with my husband, two children, and our goldendoodle Greta.
