About the work
You are my Sunshine is a popular folk song & one my mom sang to me when I was little. I oriented it in the middle of the canvas so it would appear as a rising sun, a more optimistic location than at the bottom of the canvas, where it would appear as though the sun were setting and that the sunshine, indeed was taken away.
