About the work
In this mixed-media artwork, I have created a painterly version of the state of Georgia inspired by its nature-derived symbols. Here, layers of paint in light orange tints create a subtly textured surface across the state, in reference to the peach, the state fruit, while water is rendered in the tonal colors of amethyst, a type of quartz, which is the state mineral. Completing the piece are textured layers of paint in a light tint of green, a subtle nod to the green leaves of the oak, the state tree.
