These abstract acrylic paintings take a modern spin on landscape art. These golden seascapes were inspired by the colors along the Santa Cruz coastline when the sun’s angle casts a golden hue over the Pacific. The large sandy beach exposed at low tide contrasts with the coastal bluffs.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art.
Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
