About the work
A vivid and dreamlike oil painting inspired by mid-summer of upstate New York. In a tangle of bramble, a man was felling the invasive species of Ailanthus amongst a copse of Maple. The air was liquid with humidity, saturating the colors of the light and foliage. I love to capture juicy rich colors with oil paint, and the sensation of sunlight spilling through the setting.
