About the work
Some of my work is inspired by Japanese art and calligraphy, playing with brushstroke and dry brush techniques. After spending 5 years studying Japanese culture, language and East Asian artwork, I often find this theme of making simple strokes comes up effortlessly. I like to see where I can arrange the strokes and color to create a modern abstract landscape.

I am inspired by Japanese calligraphy + pop culture, stripes, graphics + style from the 80s / 90s, electronic music, Bauhaus, celebrations/parties, fireworks, space exploration and sci-fi, quilts and textiles, undersea creatures, topography, plated food, + architecture.
