This modern abstract painting was inspired by vibrancy, style, and modernity of the Santa Cruz scene. This modern abstract painting was inspired by the spring colors of the seashore along the California coast. Last spring, we adopted a puppy and spent many hours along the beach with our new pup. This painting captures the vibrancy Santa Cruz in the spring combined with the excitement of a new puppy!

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
