Krause created the design, using the birds’ naturally vivid plumage and close physical pairing to create a warm, affectionate image perfectly suited to the series. Issued on May 9, 1991, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the stamp carried a 52-cent denomination for two-ounce First-Class Mail and was specifically useful for heavier correspondence such as wedding invitations. Printed by the American Bank Note Company using photogravure, the design combines tropical bird imagery, bright color, and romantic symbolism in one of the most naturally wedding-friendly issues in the Love series.
