STAMP DESCRIPTION & HISTORY: On August 9, 2007, in Portland, Oregon, the United States Postal Service (USPS) issued this gorgeous 41-cent postage stamp honoring the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany (son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, owner of Tiffany & Co. jewelry store) as a part of its “American Treasures” series. This self-adhesive stamp features the Tiffany Studios stained glass artwork "Magnolias and Irises" designed in 1908. For its seventh issuance in the “American Treasures” stamp series, art director Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, chose the image of a memorial window designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848–1933). The window is “Magnolias and Irises” (1908), made by Tiffany Studios (1902–1938). The leaded Favrile-glass window was presented to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1981 as an anonymous gift in memory of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Frank.
