My process of creating art always centers around what colors call to me. In this case, I was shocked myself at the unusual shades that jumped out to me, asking to be used. I had been in a long winter of subtle, quiet, muted shades, and had no other thoughts than those colors until this moment in March, when all my eyes wanted were the brightest colors I had. I muse about the seasonal change, and how nature changes it’s palette, and that as humans, this change of light affects us as well, drawing us to the shades of the season. I am currently working on color theories that incorporate these seasonal, and global colors, and the shift between seasons and countries. Fascinating stuff! So this work was the first burst of Spring, and my eyes were delighted. I hope this will bring that same feeling of bright, colorful hope that new beginnings can bring.
