About the work

I don’t want your purity is a piece about childhood. I grew up in an extremely traditional family, living in a strong Republican enclave of California in a very Catholic family the only girl with 3 brothers. When I was 13 my parents took me out for a birthday dinner in which they presented me with a lecture on purity and then a pearl ring to signify my “waiting and saving myself for marriage and my husband.” I walked out and locked myself in the bathroom. I was enraged. Later I remembered they never said anything about not kissing girls.
