I have always found inspiration in the natural world, organic forms meandering according to chance. I create simplified abstract forms based on plants, flora and fauna and the human form. These combinations of intuition, memory, and color result in my own unique vision. My work begins intuitively. Working on canvas with large brushes and washes of paint I slowly build a the surface leaving bits and pieces of what came before. I add and subtract until I see what the work wants to be. In this work I used expressive, sometimes blurry or calligraphic strokes to suggest petals, leaves, or stems. Through the process I build up layers of paint, sometimes blending colors unexpectedly, to create depth and mood.
