About the work

My paintings are often inspired by nature. This abstract watercolor came about after a drive through the country on a rainy fall day. To me, late autumn is both melancholy and beautiful in an austere way, reduced to a few distinct colors. I wanted to capture the essence of the day, rather than specific details.
