This painting represents a twist on traditional botanical art. The floral forms represented a bridal bouquet after the bouquet toss. The colors in this painting were inspired by the chartreuse chinoiserie-embroidered Dior gown that Nicole Kidman wore to the 1997 Oscars.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art.
Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
