When starting these paintings I had an idea in mind but many times the painting will decide on the direction. This painting was created with a neutral palette of blue, ocher, sage green and white. There are 2 paintings that were painted together for a pair. I worked the stripes of paint with a variety of brushes to saturate the colors creating a fresh and balanced composition.

As an artist, painting can be tormenting and sublime at the same time. I'm a big risk taker, experimenting with different materials to layer, stain, scrap and saturate color on large canvases. My most successful work is complex yet minimal. Some of my work achieves a sense of fluid movement with saturated color, while my newer collection is so textured it is like frosting. The end result should be a painting that will spiritually and emotionally capture, calm, and elevate us. less
