This photograph was taken at Point Reyes in Marin County, California. The winds are gusty and the visibility, on a normal day, is hindered by the fog. Though many tourists visit everyday, the spot makes you feel quite alone, as if you can imagine how the lighthouse keepers could have felt back in the early 1900s. It was built in 1870 and retired from use in 1975, after an automated light was installed. The Lighthouse is a lovely addition to many design types and comes with a distinguished sense of history.
