I have always found inspiration in the natural world, organic forms meandering according to chance. I create simplified abstract forms based on plants, flora and fauna and the human form. These combinations of intuition, memory, and color result in my own unique vision. My work begins intuitively. Working on canvas with large brushes and washes of paint I slowly build a the surface leaving bits and pieces of what came before. I use a process of adding and subtracting until I see what the work wants to be. I work on several canvases at the same time. This piece was created alongside Moment 1 and looks amazing displayed as a pair.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lenay was born and raised Phoenix, Arizona. She began creating art at the early age, building intricate castles with simple blocks for her artist mother to praise. She attended art school at Arizona State University and received her BFA in painting. She spent the next twenty years raising two sons and teaching gifted students, as well as creating her own art. She now works from her home studio in Prescott, Arizona where she lives on a small ranch in the foothills of Williamson Valley.
