After having my baby, I didn’t paint for months. When I returned, my art had changed. It feels unfamiliar, yet it’s a discovery of a new self—shaped by motherhood, transformation, and growth. This piece is part of a larger collection that tells the story of the postpartum journey of a mother getting reacquainted with herself.

My work is my way of processing my experience as a woman and mother. My paintings begin with me scribbling words on a canvas, uncertain of what will follow, but trusting in the impulse to create, and though I never know what they will look like, in the end I am always greeted by the abstract forms, lines, and marks that map the journey to my healing. less
