"Out to Sea" was painted in the dead of one of New England's snowiest winters on record. Dreaming of seaside escapes was a great way to cope, bringing saturated colors into a gray world. My works are an exploration into things unseen. Oil painting has freed me to create worlds much like our own, but in colors and abstractions that make them just a bit different. So many of the places I read about growing up ...Narnia, Middle Earth, etc... Had just that: much of the familiar, but also much of things I'd never imagined. In this artistic journey, my paint brushes have become my typewriter. I hope my work encourages us to remember that the here and now is not all there is. And I hope it transports us upward. That when we've been sucked into our groundedness, our earthliness...we can look at a piece and be reminded of transcendence.
