This drawing is based on the beautiful water lilies found at Hudson Gardens, just outside of Denver Colorado. It was a hot summer day and the pond was just glistening with activity. The two giant lilypads in the center were pretty impressive, especially dotted with little flowers.

about the artist

byKimberly Ellen Hall

Philadelphia, PA

My studio is called Nottene and it is pronounced [nuh-ten-uh]. It is a Norwegian word that means nuts. I started a daily drawing practice to simply appreciate the things around me, and now my illustration work comes from a practice of storytelling through drawing. I studied textiles at Central St Martins in London, and I have designed and drawn for Hussein Chalayan, Peter Jensen, the Village Voice, Anthology Magazine, and the Denver Art Museum, among others.
