I wanted to Illustrate something that was iconic to most of the Midwest, the cow. Growing up in Illinois, cows are all too familiar - there are plenty. I chose a soft color palette for the background to reflect the demeanor of this grand animal. They are calm and graceful. The background soft wash also mimics the shape of the black & white patterns you might find on the cow's hide. The cow represents a level of comfort and nostalgia which remains at the forefront of every humble farm. And they are always fun to draw.
