This abstract painting takes a modern spin on landscape art. This painting was inspired by an evening walk in the tidepools along the Monterey Bay. The colors were influenced by the brilliant tidepools exposed during a super low tide and lasting summer light.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
