I painted this tiger cub in detailed watercolor, as he approaches, but his tail goes in an entirely different direction. I was lucky enough to see Bengal tigers in India on safari, and it only increased my passion for these amazing creatures, of whom there are much too few left. I love his intent expression, giant paws, unruly tail, and unique pattern.

    byLauren Rogoff

    New York, NY

I'm Lauren: a NYer, traveler, lover of books, horses, dogs and painting. When I was a little girl, used to tell anyone who asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up that I wanted to be a "veterinarian with pictures all over the walls" but ultimately I'd rather wield a paintbrush than a scalpel! Watercolors are my medium of choice. I think it allows me to best capture the expressions of my subjects, and getting that face, those eyes, or little ears or curl of tail, just right.
