Acid and lignin-free paper, deluxe pigment print
This piece is derived from monotyping, a painterly type of printmaking that produces a uniquely textured, one-of-a-kind print pulled by hand from a painted or inked printing plate. I love the process for its visceral qualities and spontaneous nature; no matter the amount of planning involved, the final result always contains some element of surprise. This piece reflects on that idea and, through botanical, organic forms, is indicative of the notion that realizing our best intentions can be much like planting seeds in a garden. Once planted and set in the mind, these intentions can yield pleasantly unexpected results when released into the world and given the space to grow to fruition, often in the most harmonious of ways.
