I love plants. When observing, I am always amazed with their intricate patterns and beauty. This on-going botanical series, called "GS Garden", includes pen and ink drawings of flowers, leaves and everything interesting about plants, as well as Chinese paintings. While the style is inspired by vintage paintings, the perspective is fresh and personal. Camellia is the flower blooming right now, right here in front of my house, so I am choosing it for the first drawing in the series. After all, what is more important than enjoying the present moment? Vivid hand drawn lines catch the gesture and expression the flower, and loose Chinese paint on rice paper adds organic marks and depth. No. 1a are line drawings in various colorways, while No. 1b are layered with Chinese painting.
