About the work
This is part 1 of a diptych depicting Long Meadow Lake in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, a place that is very special to me. This set of paintings captures the view as the sun rises and reflects off the lake. In the distance, the lights from the bridge have not yet turned off, and airplanes wait to land at the nearby airport. A dense cloud billows from a smokestack on the horizon. All is still for a moment as the world begins another day.
